Bug Confirmed In Res Plugin

I have done some testing and I have found that if you delete a res, all water source blocks in that res will be deleted as well.

Here I created a small hole with water source blocks.

Then I create a res at two blocks under the surface and two blocks in the air. The water blocks are all in the res.

Then I delete the res.

Poof, water blocks gone.

This has already caused me to lose an entire crop of sugarcane thanks to the clearlag thing, not to mention having to redo all the water in my farm every time I want to resize it. :-/

It might be a bug, but not a lot we can do about that one. (its probably there more for grief prevention reasons - so when you remove the res it doesnt flood the area)

res has flags like...
/res set flow true
/res set waterflow true

type /res info when in your res to see the flags.

Thinks like water flowing and lava flowing are off by default so people can't grief you easily.

and... you can RESIZE your res, a lot of info on this is at the tutorial in spawn. There's rarely a need to delete a residence, you can keep expanding it.... think the limit is set to 8 areas (/res area add ?), and you can /res expand until you reach your limits.

I didn't know you could expand an existing res. I will try that. Thanks.

EDIT:

What the tutorial covers is adding areas to your res, which also works. But I found a different method that involves expanding the main area. There are two ways to do it, and one way is easier than the other.

The first way is more involved, but it can help you to plan out your costs more effectively.

/res select residence YourResName main

This will select your main residence.

/res select cost

This tells you how much you spent on your original residence.

/res select expand 10

This will expand your selection, not your residence in the direction that you are facing by 10 blocks. Replace the 10 with a number of your choice.

/res select cost

This will tell you how much the entire selection will cost as if you were buying a new one. But that's not the true cost. Simply subtract your original cost from this new cost as the plugin will only charge you the difference.

/res area replace YourResName main

This command finalizes everything and charges you the difference between your original cost and the expansion cost.

The second way is simpler, but it doesn't help those who are watching their /bal

Simply use your wand to select your entire area, including your existing res and the expanded area. Then do /res area replace YourResName main
It will still only charge you for the expansion, but if you're watching your /bal, this way probably isn't for you, unless you've already done the math in your head.

Can we perhaps have this added to the tutorial somehow?

That works.

A simpler way is if you stand in your residence ... face the direction you want to expand your residence by ... by lets say 4 blocks..... and /res expand 4

That's in the tutorial already.
