Today the server was taken offline to do a major update whilst it was quiet. The result of this means most players will have lost their inventories, enderchest content, and experience. Some players seem to have lost their plotworld plots also, and a few more glitches are occurring. This update was necessary for the future of the survival server and fixes many problems that were getting bigger and bigger by the day. ---------------------------------------------------- Background behind the changes. In the past everyone had their data stored by name. Our server started way back in 2012 so has a lot of files stored in that format. (lordmarakith.dat, lordmarakith.yml for player data and essentials file data for example... easy to locate) Then minecraft introduced namechanges... since then we have UUIDs instead of names as the primary way to store things There are "Online UUID's" - this is the most important one, and can be looked up at https://namemc.com/ , and there are Offline UUIDs for servers that are offline, these numbers are made using a UUID number generator. We were offline UUIDs initially as we used something called bungeecord. As minecraft/bungeecord versions progressed we needed to switch to online, and were stuck with our offline uuids/playerdata instead. Normal conversion programs/processes all failed to convert all files... we have many thousands of them. Time went on, and buycraft now requires the uuids to be all in one form to function correctly, and other plugins werent working well with this mixed up data either (worldguard being another one). So the conversion became urgent. The update today has made all player data one format, the correct online UUID format. This is why the change was necessary.
